We are students of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and are shooting our short film from June 23 to 27, 2025. About the project:"Up Close" is a horror-drama short film about Isa, a young woman who has recently lost someone close to her. As she tries to come to terms with this loss and move on, she becomes increasingly embroiled in an internal struggle with herself - and with the question of what it really means to let go.The story is told from a subjective perspective and stylistically draws on both body horror (e.g. The Substance or The Fly) as well as surreal, nightmarish imagery familiar from giallo cinema (e.g. Suspirira by Dario Argento).Further information on the shoot:The short film has a planned running time of 7-8 minutes and will be shot on a weekend at the end of September to mid-October this year in the NRW area. Driven by self-hatred and the desire for love, she hunts women who resemble her former self. She draws blood from them to take on their form, hoping to be recognized and loved by her family.
