Mid-aged actress (w/d) as "Shift Supervisor" for the short film "Right at Your Doorstep"

For our bachelor’s thesis film “Right by Your Side,” we are looking for actors for various leading and supporting roles. The short film is a mockumentary that follows a day in a nursing home. The story is told through observed scenes of everyday life and interviews with the characters.

While the nursing home administration wants to present as positive an image as possible on camera, the caregivers and residents struggle with staff shortages, time pressures, and the small problems of everyday life at the home. The film combines dry humor with quieter and more serious moments.

A natural acting style is particularly important to us. The characters should not be played in an exaggerated way or like typical comedy roles, but should come across as real people. Experience in front of the camera is helpful, but not required for every role.

The shift supervisor is an experienced caregiver who largely keeps the nursing home running on her own. She juggles multiple tasks at once, trains new colleagues, and tries to keep everything under control despite the staff shortage. She has a direct and sometimes strict manner, but is attentive and warm when interacting with the residents.

It’s her birthday today, and for a long time she thinks no one has remembered. She spends a lot of time playing with the nursing home director, the new FSJ volunteer, and the friendly caregiver. We are looking for an actress with a natural, strong presence who can credibly portray stress, dry humor, and quieter emotional moments.
