Actress (f/d) as “Resident with Escape Plans” for the short film “Right at Your Doorstep”

For our bachelor’s thesis film “Right by Your Side,” we are looking for actors for various leading and supporting roles. The short film is a mockumentary that follows a day in a nursing home. The story is told through observed scenes of everyday life and interviews with the characters.

While the nursing home administration wants to present as positive an image as possible on camera, the caregivers and residents struggle with staff shortages, time pressures, and the small problems of everyday life at the home. The film combines dry humor with quieter and more serious moments.

A natural acting style is particularly important to us. The characters should not be played in an exaggerated way or like typical comedy roles, but should come across as real people. Experience in front of the camera is helpful, but not required for every role.

The resident is convinced that she doesn’t belong in the nursing home and could easily manage on her own at home. That’s why she tries to leave the building several times throughout the day. She keeps her purse and jacket within reach and has planned her escape better than the staff initially realizes.

She runs into the new FSJ volunteer, the friendly caregiver, and the gossipy grandma particularly often. We are looking for an actress with a dry sense of humor and a self-assured presence. The character should come across as headstrong and determined, but should not be ridiculed for any potential illness or need for care.
