Young actress (w/d) as the “new FSJ volunteer” for the short film “Right at Your Doorstep”

For our bachelor’s thesis film “Right by Your Side,” we are looking for actors for various leading and supporting roles. The short film is a mockumentary that follows a day in a nursing home. The story is told through observed scenes of everyday life and interviews with the characters.

While the nursing home administration wants to present as positive an image as possible on camera, the caregivers and residents struggle with staff shortages, time pressures, and the minor problems of everyday life at the home. The film combines dry humor with quieter and more serious moments.

A natural acting style is particularly important to us. The characters should not be played in an exaggerated way or like typical comedy roles, but should come across as real people. Experience in front of the camera is helpful, but not required for every role.

The FSJ volunteer is on her first day at the nursing home and is clearly overwhelmed by the situation at first. Since no one really has time to train her, she is repeatedly left on her own and has to figure out what to do by herself. At first, she’s unsure and not particularly motivated, but as the day goes on, she develops a greater understanding of the residents and begins to take on her first responsibilities.

She interacts primarily with the shift supervisor, the friendly caregiver, and the resident with plans to escape. We are looking for a young actress with a natural and effortless acting style. Credible reactions, good listening skills, and the ability to command the scene even without much dialogue are important.
