Mid-Aged / Best Ager Actor/Actress (m/f/d) as a “demanding family member” for the short film “Right at Your Doorstep”

For our bachelor’s thesis film “Right by Your Side,” we are looking for actors for various leading and supporting roles. The short film is a mockumentary that follows a day in a nursing home. The story is told through observed scenes of everyday life and interviews with the characters.

While the nursing home administration wants to present as positive an image as possible on camera, the caregivers and residents struggle with staff shortages, time pressures, and the minor problems of everyday life at the home. The film combines dry humor with quieter and more serious moments.

A natural acting style is particularly important to us. The characters should not be played in an exaggerated way or like typical comedy roles, but should come across as real people. Experience in front of the camera is helpful, but not required for every role.

A family member visits a parent at a nursing home and realizes that something did not go as planned. She complains to the staff because her parent had to wait a long time, is not yet fully dressed, or has called for help several times without success. Her criticism is fundamentally understandable and stems from genuine concern.

The central scene takes place with the shift supervisor and the nursing home director. We are looking for an actor who can credibly portray controlled impatience and concern. The role should not come across as an exaggerated or unjustifiably aggressive complainer.
