During the coronavirus pandemic, he was critical of government measures and became increasingly involved in dissident demonstrations. Armin lost his job at a medical practice due to his refusal to be vaccinated and his involvement in the demonstrations and became more radicalized. At the demonstrations, he joined the group "The Circle", which rejected state structures and organized life beyond all official institutions on farms. Armin and his wife quickly became respected members, as Armin's supposed medical expertise meant that he was able to supervise home births within the community.
