Older actor (m/d) to play the role of “former pastor” in the short film “Right at Your Doorstep”

For our bachelor’s thesis film “Right by Your Side,” we are looking for actors for various leading and supporting roles. The short film is a mockumentary that follows a day in a nursing home. The story is told through observed scenes of everyday life and interviews with the characters.

While the nursing home administration wants to present as positive an image as possible on camera, the caregivers and residents struggle with staff shortages, time pressures, and the minor problems of everyday life at the home. The film combines dry humor with quieter and more serious moments.

A natural acting style is particularly important to us. The characters should not be played in an exaggerated way or like typical comedy roles, but should come across as real people. Experience in front of the camera is helpful, but not required for every role.

The former pastor lives in a nursing home and continues to give a short sermon every morning. It doesn’t really matter to him whether anyone is listening. Some residents are annoyed by his long speeches, but he remains friendly, handing out small gifts and praying for the people in the home.

He frequently encounters the musical resident, whose music interrupts his sermons. He also repeatedly seeks out conversations with the shift supervisor and the volunteer. We are looking for an actor with a calm demeanor and a resonant voice. It is important that the character be portrayed as serious and warm-hearted, rather than coming across as a caricature.
