The Theater Oberhausen, with its three venues and around 135 employees, sees itself as an open house of contemporaneity: in addition to the evening program, which combines great stories with a political stance in an emotional contemporary theater, the Open House division acts as a mediation and networking center.

With the Junges Theater and the Urban Arts focus, which integrates urban arts productions into the repertoire, the Stadttheater sees itself as interdisciplinary and diverse in its aesthetic forms.

 "Administrative Director (m/f/div)"

The Artistic Director and the Administrative Director are jointly responsible for the management of Theater Oberhausen. They work together as colleagues and inform each other about all important measures and processes in their business areas.

Your tasks:

  • Management of the theater administration including the visitors' office

  • Business management of the theater according to the estimates of the business plan including controlling

  • Personnel, Contract management and monitoring of compliance with collective bargaining regulations

  • Optimization of processes and structures as well as organization of operating procedures

  • Ticketing and sales as well as implementation of fundraising concepts

  • Property management, in particular investment planning and cooperation with the municipal building management

  • Representation of the theater in public, especially in committee meetings and to cooperation partners and sponsors

  • Collaboration with the committees and cooperative partners (reporting, negotiation, meeting preparation, etc.).)

Role/requirement profile

Your profile:

As a leader, you will bring enthusiasm for theater work as well as communicative and integrative skills and will shape your area of responsibility with professional experience, confidence and efficiency. You have several years of experience in the economic and organizational management of a cultural enterprise, ideally a theater or performing arts institution. In addition to the necessary skills for an administrative directorate, you should have the ability to further develop the company in terms of innovation, digitalization and interculturality. You will be able to work confidently with various institutions and stakeholders and represent Theater Oberhausen convincingly in public and on committees.

The following skills are important to us in detail:

  • Completed university or higher education studies in the field of business administration, economics and management. University or college degree in economics or law or a comparable qualification

  • Relevant business and legal skills proven in practical application

  • Analytical, strategic and entrepreneurial mindset

  • Emotional intelligence and the ability to deal with employees and partners of the theater in an appreciative manner and to coordinate the various areas of work

  • Negotiation skills and assertiveness

  • Communication, Motivation and teamwork skills

  • Expertise in sponsoring and fundraising

  • Experience with building management and refurbishment

  • Commitment, flexibility and willingness to work weekends

  • Competence to innovatively design the complex process landscape

  • Knowledge and experience in change management
