Job description
The Junge Landestheater Schwaben is seeking, as soon as possible, a
Event Technician for the Junge Landestheater Schwaben (m/f/d)
We are looking for an event technician with a wide range of interests, expertise in lighting, video, and sound technology, and a strong practical sense for day-to-day theater operations.
Employment Terms
The employment relationship is governed by the collective bargaining agreement for the public sector (TVÖD-kommunal). Compensation is based on the TVÖD pay grade corresponding to the requirements, taking into account existing qualifications and professional experience, plus a theater operations allowance for stage staff, also in accordance with the TVÖD. The weekly work schedule is 39 hours.
Theater and Surroundings
The Landestheater Schwaben, located in the center of Memmingen, sees itself as a theater for the entire Swabia region. With its 15-member ensemble, approximately 50 additional staff members, and numerous guest artists, the theater produces 18 original productions per season, comprising about 200 performances on the four stages of the Landestheater and the Junges Landestheater, as well as at over 40 regularly used guest performance venues in Swabia and other locations both in Germany and abroad.
The Landestheater’s buildings are located in close proximity to one another in the heart of Memmingen’s picturesque old town; they feature modern performance venues and rehearsal stages, as well as in-house set and costume workshops and guest apartments.
The independent city of Memmingen is situated in the scenic Allgäu region, which offers a wide range of recreational and leisure activities and excellent transportation connections (rail lines to Munich and Zurich; the A7/A96 highway interchange).
The work environment
is characterized by artistic and technical creativity and professionalism. Beyond the company’s own stages at its headquarters, the touring division offers close contact with the diverse venues where the Landestheater presents its productions. Because productions must be adapted to the stage spaces and technical facilities of the host venues, your varied role encompasses a wide range of relevant technical systems and the entire transportation logistics of theater operations.
Job Description
You will support the creative development process of new productions, arrange the technical setup, ensure the safe assembly and dismantling of sets and technical equipment, and oversee the provision of props. You will create and maintain production documentation and accompany the productions on their tours to schools, kindergartens, and larger venues. In doing so, you will provide transportation services or coordinate transportation, setup, and takedown as part of a team for larger tours.
During performances, you operate the necessary control systems as a stage technician and ensure the smooth running of the production as a stage manager.
The Children’s and Youth Theater operates in a separate location from the main theater. You will handle day-to-day custodial tasks in the building yourself or coordinate any necessary tasks with the main theater’s facilities management team.
Applications
We are committed to equal opportunity and diversity. We therefore welcome applications from people regardless of cultural and social background, age, religion, worldview, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Role / Requirements profile
Requirements
We are looking for a dedicated individual who has completed training as an event technician and has some initial experience in theater.
We expect knowledge of programming digital lighting control systems, basic sound and video technology, manual skills, as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively, a practical and goal-oriented approach, a high degree of reliability, and the ability to work independently.
We require a willingness to work standard theater hours (particularly evenings, Sundays, and holidays), physical fitness for heavy lifting and carrying, and a Class B driver’s license.
