The Staatstheater Kassel is seeking, starting with the 2026/2027 season (Start date: August 10, 2026) a Video Technician or Video Technology Staff Member (m/f/d) for rehearsals and performances at our interim venue.

With approximately 560 employees, the Staatstheater Kassel is one of Germany’s major multidisciplinary theaters. In the fields of musical theater, drama, dance, concerts, and JUST+, numerous productions are staged each year in which video has become an integral part of the artistic work.

With its modern video technology equipment, the Raumbühne Kassel interim venue offers a wide range of opportunities to understand video as an integral part of theater and to explore innovative paths in video art. To manage these systems, we are looking for a dedicated individual who enjoys technology, teamwork, and the unique daily routine of a theater operation.

Your responsibilities:

  • Maintaining video equipment during rehearsals and performances

  • Setting up, operation, and monitoring of projection, camera, and monitor systems

  • Preparation and execution of performances

  • Programming and execution of video cues

  • Assisting with the setup of projection surfaces and mapping applications

  • Setting up and managing video equipment

  • Recording rehearsals and performances

  • Maintenance and servicing of the equipment used

  • Assistance with guest performances and special events

  • Technical support for artistic teams and video designers

The employment relationship is governed by the provisions of the NV Bühne collective agreement and is a full-time position.

Role / Requirements profile

What you bring to the table:

  • Training in event technology, media technology, or a comparable qualification is a plus.

  • Practical experience in video, media, or event technology

  • Interest in theater and artistic work processes

  • Good computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems

  • Basic knowledge of networks and digital media technology

  • Experience with Pixera, Q-Lab, Millumin, or comparable systems is desirable but not required.

  • Experience with camera technology is an advantage.

  • Technical understanding, manual dexterity, and a willingness to learn

  • Reliability, team player, and self-motivated

  • Willingness to work standard theater hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
