Job description
We are casting for the role of the FATHER of the main character in our Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg short film.
The short film is titled “Pocket Bike Symphony” and is a production of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, in co-production with SWR. Upon completion, the film will be added to the SWR media library. Filming will take place in the Cologne area; August 14 and 15 are the relevant dates for this role.
SYNOPSIS
In the height of summer, PAVEL, TEO, and ROSHA drift through the dreary, small-town backwater of Braake in search of excitement. The boys can’t find a place for themselves or a way to connect with their true selves. Their shared experiences have left behind rifts, tensions, and hurt feelings. Unable to address these issues, they escape into a shared state of intoxication.
While using drugs in the garden gazebo of their adult friend Björn, a young boy gets his hands on a nitrous oxide balloon thanks to Pavel and suffers a seizure. Overwhelmed, the group flees across the city’s wastelands. For the first time, they are directly confronted with the consequences of their actions.
The film explores the interstices of a group of friends and recounts the final day of their friendship, which does not break apart due to a single event, but rather gradually, due to their inability to talk to one another about fear, guilt, and vulnerability.
Unfortunately, we cannot pay a fee in the sense of an expense allowance or advance payment. However, meals, lodging, and travel expenses will be fully covered.

The character of the FATHER has one scene with dialogue; the rest of the time, he is simply a presence in the background. Despite their few words, the relationship between him and the main character, Pavel, is essential. A great deal is conveyed between the two through their glances. In the film’s final scene, an important exchange takes place between the father and son.
