Supporting role (m/d) for the graduation film "unregistered"
For our graduation film "unregistered" in the BA program "Media: Conception & Production" we are looking for a cast member for the supporting character "Armin".
Armin is between 40-50 years old and, together with his wife Judith, part of the Reichsbürger splinter group "Der Kreis". The dentist has been active in conservative political groups since his youth and became more and more politically involved with the rise of the AfD. During the coronavirus pandemic, he was critical of government measures and became increasingly involved in dissident demonstrations. Armin lost his job at a medical practice due to his refusal to be vaccinated and his involvement in the demonstrations and became more radicalized. At the demonstrations, he joined the group "The Circle", which rejected state structures and organized life beyond all official institutions on farms. Armin and his wife quickly became respected members, as Armin's supposed medical expertise meant that he was able to supervise home births within the community. Armin and Judith's two children were also born this way.
General plot of the short film:
Logline: "unregistered" tells of the silent radicalization of a relationship and the power to free oneself from psychological and ideological dependence.
Nora, a young woman in her late 20s, learns that she is pregnant. At first, her partner Jan, who increasingly lives in an ideologically isolated parallel world, is also overjoyed. He is firmly rooted in the group "The Circle", which rejects state structures and organizes life beyond all official institutions.
What feels like freedom and self-determination for Jan, means increasing control and isolation for Nora. As her everyday life becomes more and more governed by the rules of the community, Nora begins to have doubts. Jan expects her to give up her medical care and give birth at home under the supervision of a lay friend. During a seemingly harmonious evening with like-minded people, the situation comes to a head: Nora is put under increasing pressure and it comes to an open argument between her and Jan.

Armin is a person who is ideologically strongly influenced by conspiracy theories and rejection of the state. His bad experiences with the state structures have put an end to his bourgeois life and he is doing everything he can to build a life in the parallel society "The Circle". He has already made a name for himself within the community through his role as a midwife. He is a man who is very convinced of himself and his ideas, and who grabs the conversation and attention without being asked. Due to his studies and his status in the community, he often feels like the smartest and most important person in the room. His world view is strongly conservative, which is also reflected in his relationship with his wife, who barely gets a word in edgewise.
