For our graduation film "unregistered" in the BA program "Media: Conception & Production" we are looking for a cast member for the supporting character "Judith".
Judith is between 30 and 40 years old and, together with her husband Armin (40-50), part of the Reichsbürger splinter group "Neue Gemeinschaft". The qualified secondary school teacher was critical of the government measures during the coronavirus pandemic and became increasingly involved in demonstrations. As a result of her involvement in lateral thinking events, she eventually lost her job and became more radicalized. Her husband, a trained dentist, and she became an integral part of the "New Community", a group that rejects state structures and organizes life beyond all official institutions on farms. Armin has made a name for himself in the community by looking after home births. The couple's children were also born this way. The two are friends with one of the two main characters in the film, Jan. He wants to convince his girlfriend Nora to have a home birth under Armin's care. To this end, he invites Judith and Armin to dinner. During this dinner, Jan and Nora's different views on the subject of childbirth and raising children come to light and an argument ensues between the two.
General plot of the short film:
Logline: "unregistered" tells of the silent radicalization of a relationship and the power to free oneself from psychological and ideological dependence.
Nora, a young woman in her late 20s, learns that she is pregnant. At first, her partner Jan, who is increasingly living in an ideologically isolated parallel world, is also overjoyed. He is firmly rooted in the "New Community", which rejects state structures and organizes life beyond all official institutions.
What feels like freedom and self-determination for Jan means increasing control and isolation for Nora. As her everyday life becomes more and more governed by the rules of the community, Nora begins to have doubts. Jan expects her to give up her medical care and give birth at home under the supervision of a lay friend. During a seemingly harmonious evening with like-minded people, the situation comes to a head: Nora is put under increasing pressure and an open argument ensues between her and Jan.

Judith has a very calm and empathetic character. She is particularly sympathetic to Nora's worries and concerns about childbirth and life in the community. She does not share her husband's crude conspiracy theories and finds herself in the "New Community", especially in the concept of alternative and free education. She has a strong dislike and mistrust of the state institutions and is traumatized by the way he has dropped her when she criticizes the measures. Life in the "New Community" gives her structure and security again, which she also wants to convince Nora of. Her relationship with her husband is characterized by a conservative world view, with Armin in particular leading the discussions. It is only in her moments alone with Nora that Judith's true sensitive and protective character comes to the fore.
