Job description

For the production Gioachino Rossini, "La cambiale di matrimonio" of the KlassikFestival Kirchstetten in summer 2026 the following role will be cast:

SLOOK - Canadian merchant (bass)

Director: Richard Panzenböck
Conductor: Hooman Khalatbari
Orchestra: The Virtuosi Brunenses Orchestra

Premiere: 29. July 2026
Performances: July 31, August 01, 03, 05, 07 and 08 at 20:00
Venue: Schloss Kirchstetten, Maulpertsch-Saal (approx. 160 seats)

Start of rehearsals: from July 6, 2026 (rehearsals are half of the time in Vienna and the other half on site in Kirchstetten).
Conditional attendance during the entire rehearsal period.

Prepare the specified part in the respective part as a video:

Recording with your cell phone
Ideally, the whole body should be seen in the video (but does not have to be)
Please do not attach the video in the e-mail, but upload it to a platform (YouTube, wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc).
Submission by the end of October

The festival will not cover any costs incurred for the audition. However, you are welcome to have a confirmation for this.

SLOOK (Bass)
Sought
A charismatic bass (low or light) with good and clean coloratura ability for the role of Slook, a Canadian merchant, in Rossini's one-act opera La cambiale di matrimonio.

Slook is a central comic character with a strong scenic profile: an honest, somewhat awkward overseas businessman who tries to treat an arranged marriage like a commercial contract - creating chaos in a charming and heartfelt way.

This role offers a great mix of comedic acting, strong stage presence and vocal expressiveness.

Performer requirements

Excellent comedic talent and sense of timing
Ability for physical comedy and spontaneous acting
Naturalness and warmth in the performance - a "good guy" with awkward charm
Good interaction with partner:inside (team planner)
