For our graduation film "unregistiert" in the BA program "Media: Conception & Production" we are looking for a cast for the main character "Nora".
Nora is a young woman in her late 20s who, together with her partner Jan, is increasingly living in an ideologically isolated parallel world. The two are part of the "New Community", which rejects state structures and organizes life beyond all official institutions. When Nora finds out that she is pregnant, Jan and she are initially overjoyed. However, Nora soon realizes that her ideas about the future with a child differ from Jan's.
What feels like freedom and self-determination for Jan, means increasing control and isolation for Nora. As her everyday life becomes more and more based on the rules of the community, Nora begins to have doubts. Jan expects her to give up her medical care and give birth at home under the supervision of a lay friend. During a seemingly harmonious evening with like-minded people, the situation comes to a head: Nora is put under increasing pressure and an open argument ensues between Jan and her.
The short film is set in the environment of a fictitious splinter group of the Reichsbürger scene and deals with topics such as: Toxic relationships, manipulation/control, dangers posed by extremist ideologies, inner strength and liberation.
Contact: Florian Bauer
Nora is initially a very quiet and unassuming character who only finds her own voice again as the story progresses. What is important here is the ability to portray intense emotional scenes (arguments, oppression, pregnancy, birth) and a general openness to physically and emotionally challenging scenes.
