Job description
The Münchner Volkstheater is one of Munich’s leading spoken-word theaters. In October 2021, the Münchner Volkstheater reopened in the Schlachthofviertel district. The theater has three stages. Christian Stückl has been the artistic director since 2002. He reopened the theater and established a new identity with young directors and a young ensemble. The program is complemented by readings, concerts, and panel discussions. Since 2005, the annual “Radikal jung” festival for young directors has been held. With “Radikal jung,” the Munich Volkstheater presents successful productions by emerging directors. The festival supports young talents who have distinguished themselves in the German and European theater scene with their work.
Münchner Volkstheater GmbH is seeking a full-time (39 hours/week) Audio & Video Technician (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible.
Your responsibilities:
Project-based support for theater productions (rehearsals and performances) in the areas of audio & Video
Setting up projectors, controlling media servers, feeding in video content and live images
Setting up, dismantling, and operating audio mixing consoles and sound reinforcement systems
Content creation, recording, and post-production in the field of audio and video
Planning and designing appropriate innovative technical solutions, contributing to artistic processes, and implementing the production team’s requests
Collaboration with artistic production teams, particularly in the role of an interface between art and technology
Preparation and execution of guest performances
Maintenance, repair, and upkeep of video, audio, and network technology

Role / Requirements profile
Your Profile:
Completed training as an event technician with a focus on media technology, a degree in media or event technology, or similar artistic-technical training
With relevant professional experience in media technology, career changers are also welcome
Knowledge of recording and playback software Audio: Ableton Live, Nuendo, Qlab Video: Pandoras Box, DaVinci Resolve
Independent and meticulous work ethic, team spirit, communication skills, reliability, quick learning ability, sense of responsibility, and resilience
Willingness to work flexible hours typical in the theater industry (evening shifts, work on Sundays and holidays)
Willingness and ability to lift and carry heavy loads, as well as to work on fixed and freestanding tall ladders or lifting platforms
Good networking and PC skills, Proficiency in standard Office programs
Class B driver’s license and willingness to drive the theater’s vehicles
Foreign language skills: English (fluent in both spoken and written)
