Closed
Job description

For the graduation film "Tschö" of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences we are looking for an actor for the role: SABINE (46)

This is what the film is about: Paul is dead. He sends his family on a scavenger hunt around the will - just to say goodbye to them personally.

Running time: approx. 15 minutes
Genre: absurd comedy
Shooting period: 06.-11.01.2026 (total 2 rehearsal days, 4 shooting days - but we probably only need the role of Sabine on 3 shooting days)

Shooting will take place in Idstein, about an hour's drive from Frankfurt. It would be great if you are from Hessen, but applications from outside Hessen are also welcome.

As this is a student production, which is largely financed by private funds, we unfortunately do not have the possibility to pay a fee. However, we will of course cover travel costs and delicious meals on set. You are also welcome to use material from the film for your showreel.

If you are interested, please send your application including the following data: CV, showreel

We look forward to receiving every application!

Role/requirement profile

Role description:
Sabine is Paul's daughter and the mother of their two children Mara and Fabian. As a power woman, she first had a career in insurance and didn't put it on hold like many other mothers when she gave birth to her first child. After a mental meltdown and a depressive episode lasting several months, during which she almost separated from her husband Klaus, she found her way out in sport. She has been a fitness enthusiast ever since. However, she is actually just making up for the poor self-esteem she was given along the way. Even with 15 kg less flab on her ribs, she feels uncomfortable in her body and verbalizes this at least once a day without being asked. Her daughter Mara was able to break with this self-image for herself. Her mother is happy that her daughter also does a lot of sport. She now finds her almost obese sister and her voluminous husband stranger than ever. Their bad relationship may also have something to do with the big age difference, because Beate was always the annoying little sister who was over-indulged and spoiled. On the other hand, she always looked up to her brother - until he plunged headlong into his first marriage after an unsuccessful relationship and moved to another part of the republic without even telling her. She had an ambivalent relationship with her father Paul. She accepted him. However, the mixture of feigned love and his otherwise withdrawn nature still irritates her to this day. She is much warmer towards her children. She learned love from her mother and a clear line from her own grandmother. However, she passed on to her children the feeling that she always had an implicit problem with herself and everyone who loved her. She also liked to talk to them about her feelings and needs. However, she is very practical, so the initiative for this had to come from them. Because they prefer to keep their own problems to themselves, the relationship between her and her children remains loving, but mostly superficial. She also often criticizes her mother's noncommittal nature. However, criticizing her for her unreliability only reveals her wounded soul towards her and the feeling that she is merely the second or third choice child.
