We are looking for two actors and one dancer for our project Roots!in Resistance, who will develop an interdisciplinary theater performance on the topic of "resistance" (against the right) under the direction of director Anas Ouriaghli, which will be performed in November at the Kulturbunker in Cologne Mülheim. Further guest performances are planned.
Building on the successful Roots!Resist project, which dealt with the resistance of the Edelweiss Pirates during the Nazi era and today's resistance in East Germany, Resistance takes the topic a step further and uses the means of theater to further advocate self-empowerment, freedom and solidarity with the interdisciplinary and participatory Roots! team.
The focus is on the personal stories, fears, visions and experiences of young people from Cologne, which are artistically and pedagogically accompanied and performatively translated in joint workshops in the open jazz house school and in the In close cooperation with the open jazz house school in Cologne and accompanied by professional artists and activists, a powerful theater performance is created that combines political attitude with artistic diversity. The project sees itself as a response to social exclusion, racism and right-wing extremism - and offers a safe space for self-reflection, exchange and empowerment. At least one public performance as well as discussions afterwards allow for the exploration of central questions of democracy, belonging and resistance in dialog with the audience.
