Industry jargon not your thing? Our glossary will enlighten you!
The abbreviation ZAV stands for the somewhat unwieldy term "International Placement Services". At first, it is difficult to imagine what this actually means. The ZAV is a specialist placement agency that is operated by the Federal Employment Agency and operates internationally. Its aim is to act as an interface between employers and employees in the show business.
The ZAV of the Federal Employment Agency is active as an artist placement agency in all areas of show business. These include:
Acting/stage
Cinema/Film/TV - Acting
Cinema/Film/TV - Staff/Engineering
Opera/Operetta
Choir
Orchestra
Musical
Dance
Show
Music
Advertising/Media/Fashion
Make-up artists
Talents & Extras for fiction, non-fiction and stage
Contrary to the term "artist placement", we also place employees in other areas relevant to the industry. These include stylists, make-up artists, prompters, extras, lighting technicians and prop masters. Thanks to decades of experience, ZAV's artist recruiters know exactly what it takes to find the right job for jobseekers and the right applicant for employers.
A recently revised query mask on the ZAV artist placement website makes the search easier. If interested parties find suitable offers, they can then simply get in touch with the relevant ZAV employees.
The International and Specialist Placement Service not only looks after artists and other people working in show business. It is also responsible for acting as an employer service for academically trained people with disabilities.
The ZAV employment agency has enjoyed great popularity in the German show industry for decades. There are many reasons for this, but two stand out in particular: the elimination of commissions and jobs abroad.
No commissions: Unlike agencies in the private sector, the ZAV employment agency, as a state player, is not dependent on making a profit. The artist placement agency can offer its services free of charge, does not charge any commission and is therefore widely used by both employers and employees.
Jobs abroad: The ZAV does not limit its placement activities to the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. The network is international and can provide jobs in other European countries as well as on all other continents.
At Jobwork, we are also aware of the importance of the ZAV artist placement service and work closely with the Federal Employment Agency.
Sometimes artists and media professionals want or need to reorient themselves professionally. The ZAV employment agency is also there to advise them. The aim of the ZAV is to avoid long-term unemployment and to identify career opportunities in the non-artistic sector as part of transition advice.
ZAV Künstlervermittlung offers its services at the following eight locations in Germany: Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Rostock, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
