The Opera Leipzig stands in the tradition of over 330 years of music theater in Leipzig: In 1693, the first opera house on the Brühl was opened as the third civic music theater in Europe after Venice and Hamburg. Since 1840, the world-renowned Gewandhaus Orchestra has played for all opera and ballet performances in Leipzig. In addition to the current opera house on Augustusplatz, built in 1960, the Musikalische Komödie in the Lindenau district is part of Oper Leipzig, a special venue for operettas and musicals with its own ensembles. With over 720 employees, the city's largest in-house cultural enterprise comprises a total of five supporting pillars: Opera, Musical Comedy, Leipzig Ballet, the Junge Oper and Vermittlung 360° division and the Theaterwerkstätten workshops, which produce for all municipal theatres.
The position is assigned to the production management and works closely with them. You will support the entire production process both organizationally, administratively and in technical matters relating to the productions. You are the connecting interface between artistic teams, workshops, stage trades and external partners.

Your tasks will include, among other things:
Set design preparation and supervision of productions of all genres
Set design for chamber operas and smaller formats
Preparation and supervision of model consultations, construction rehearsals and workshop submissions including taking minutes
Supervision of the planning and production process in the workshops
Contact person for the theater workshops in the implementation of the artistic concept as well as in the procurement in the production process or the procurement of stage design details. procurement of stage design details and props on behalf of the stage designer
Supervision of rehearsals and final rehearsals as well as stage design support for the rehearsal process
Organization and coordination of conversions and transport in connection with the rehearsal process
Research, Model construction as well as communication and coordination with guest outfitters
technical and organizational exchange with the in-house departments

Role / Requirements profile
You bring with you:
a degree in stage design, scenography or a comparable qualification
the ability and willingness to work independently and a strong ability to work in a team
an understanding of artistic processes and a confident, friendly manner - even in stressful situations
Very good organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to work with foresight
Sure handling of MegaCAD, AutoCAD or a comparable CAD program
good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Photoshop and common PC applications
good written and spoken English
high degree of reliability, resilience and flexibility
practical and economic thinking as well as creative flair and manual skills
Interest in sustainable working methods and openness to corresponding topics
Willingness to work irregular hours as is customary in the theater
Excitement for theater and enjoyment of working with people
Willingness to take annual leave mainly during theater vacations
