Mid-Aged Creator (m/f) for Short Business Video Messages

You are a businessperson addressing other businesspeople—specifically, the owners of skilled trades businesses—with a short, personal video message. The topic is succession planning for skilled trades businesses. The videos will be sent exclusively via email to the managing directors of these craft businesses and will not be shown publicly.

We’re looking for someone to collaborate with on a long-term basis. If it’s a good fit for both sides, there will be regular follow-up shoots and, down the line, potentially larger productions as well.

What you’ll be recording:

• Approx. 8 short videos (approx. 60 seconds each)

• You’ll speak directly into the camera, as if in a personal video message

• You’ll be filmed wearing a shirt and jacket, without a tie

• Filmed at your home using your smartphone—no crew, no studio

• We’ll provide you with the script and detailed instructions (framing, lighting, sound) from us

• Total time required: about 1 hour

To apply, please send a short video (about 15 seconds) taken with your cell phone in which you introduce yourself naturally. It doesn’t have to be perfect—we just want to see how you come across on camera.

The Role: You are an experienced and reputable businessman between the ages of 45 and 55. Someone who is at home in the business world but whose demeanor suggests he might also have a background in the trades. Blazer and white shirt—yes; tie—no. Down-to-earth, calm, and likable. Someone a master craftsman would trust within 30 seconds.

What we’re looking for:

• Comes across as a likable family man whose words you believe

• Can talk to tradespeople as an equal without sucking up

• Serious, but not stiff. Not a salesperson type, not a TV host

• Speaks naturally and freely, in short, simple sentences

• Calm, pleasant voice

This won’t work:

• An audible advertising or voice-over voice

• Visibly reading from a script

• Too stiff or too formal, as in a presentation

Requirements:

• A smartphone with a good camera and a quiet, well-lit room

• Available on short notice (recording this week)

• Interest in a long-term collaboration with regular recordings

Non-professional actors are expressly welcome. It’s more important that it sounds authentic than that you have experience.
