The Theater Hagen is the leading cultural institution in the city of Hagen and the region between the Ruhr and the Sauerland, with departments for musical theater, ballet, drama, concerts, and children’s and youth theater.

We are seeking for the 2026/27 season a makeup artist for the fields of opera, operetta, musicals, ballet, and drama.

Responsibilities:

• All technical and artistic tasks associated with the role

• Designing and implementing requirements in collaboration with the artistic teams

• Preparing for and assisting with rehearsals and performances

• Performances

• Participation in touring productions

The position is a full-time position (39 hours per week) in accordance with the NV Bühne collective bargaining agreement (SR Stage Technician). The position requires work on Sundays and holidays as well as in the evenings.

Requirements:

• Successfully completed vocational training as a makeup artist

• Solid knowledge of women’s and men’s styling

• Additional training in hairdressing is a plus - Expertise in styling wigs and natural hair across all stylistic eras for both women and men - Strong skills in prop and mask construction, hair styling, and all aspects of makeup application

• Creativity in bringing artistic concepts to life

• Ability to work independently and a strong sense of responsibility

• Ability to work well in a team and sensitivity when interacting with performers - Foreign language skills (especially English) are desirable
