Job description
For an 89-second TV and online commercial in the “vox pop” format, we’re looking for a host who will act as a reporter on location in a Munich pedestrian zone. The host approaches passersby with a simple, everyday question, reacts casually to their puzzled responses, and then brings in a pharmacist who demonstrates how to do it live on a cell phone to one of the passersby. At the end, he addresses the viewer directly and passes the question on to them. The host guides the viewer through the entire spot and ties the scene together—in a likable, curious, and credible way. The client is a German online pharmacy, and the ad promotes a digital service related to e-prescriptions.
APPLICATION
Please send us:
* 3–4 recent photos
* Short film or showreel—ideally featuring hosting or on-camera moments (no professional editing required; a cell phone video is sufficient as long as your personality comes through)
* A short video introduction answering the following questions:
Answer casually and in your own words:
1. Who are you, and how did you get into working on camera? Whether through formal training, by chance, or via a YouTube channel—we’re interested in your journey.
2. In 30 seconds, explain something from everyday life that many people find complicated—in a way that everyone can understand. The topic doesn’t matter. We want to see how you convey things in a simple and approachable way.
3. Speak directly to the camera for 10 seconds—say anything you think is important.
The content doesn’t matter. We want to see how you maintain eye contact with the camera.
Role / Requirements profile
THE ROLE
On the street, the host is relaxed, curious, and charming. He asks his question without pressing, takes the passersby’s perplexed answers with a wink, and then confidently hands the floor over to the pharmacist. Not a clichéd TV reporter, but someone who comes across as genuinely listening.
In the final moment, he addresses the viewer directly. This calls for clear, warm eye contact with the camera—direct, with a slight smile, and without a lecturing tone. The host should come across as trustworthy and likable—like someone you’d gladly stop for on the street.
DESIRED PROFILE
* Age: approx. late 30s to mid-40s
* Personality: approachable, likable, open, and professional without being stiff—the kind of person you’d spontaneously respond to on the street.&
* Appearance: very well-groomed, everyday look—not the classic news anchor look, but rather that of a credible reporter from a local station or a confident content creator
* Language: German as a native language, accent-free, no dialect.
REQUIREMENTS
* Experience as a host, voice-over artist, journalist, actor, or comparable on-camera experience
* Fluent, natural delivery without reading from a script—the text is set, but it must sound spontaneous and in your own words!
* Ability to make interview situations come across as lively and unstaged
* Outdoor shoot in November: able to work in all weather conditions and handle the demands of a full day of filming
* Full transfer of rights for TV and online use in Germany (buyout)
