Freelance Graphic Designer / Media Designer (m/f/d) for the “Oststadt Theater Mannheim”

We are a theater and are looking for an experienced graphic designer / media designer for a flexible collaboration on a fee basis.

We regularly produce a variety of print materials related to our theater productions—ranging from individual posters to more extensive publications.

Typical Projects

For example:

• Posters in various formats

• Performance schedules and monthly programs

• Postcards and flyers

• Program booklets / program flyers

• Event and special materials

• Other print and communication materials as needed

Your Responsibilities

Depending on the project, these may include:

• Developing design concepts based on our content and specifications

• Layout and typographic design

• Selection and preparation of image material

• Implementation of our existing visual design or corporate identity

• Coordination with us and incorporation of corrections

• Creation of final, print-ready files

• if necessary, coordination with printing companies or consideration of their printing specifications

Here’s how we envision our collaboration

The projects vary widely and are each commissioned and compensated on a case-by-case basis.

Before each commission, we’d like to agree together on the specific scope, timeline, and fee. Transparent and straightforward collaboration is important to us.

This could be, for example, a single poster, but also a more extensive project such as a playbill or a program booklet.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in graphic and communication design

• Very strong skills in layout, typography, and image editing

• Experience with print media and professional print files

• Proficiency with standard graphic design software, particularly Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

• a good sense of design and readability

• reliable communication and adherence to agreed-upon deadlines

• ideally, experience with cultural institutions, theaters, events, or similar projects

• A compelling portfolio

It is a requirement that you live in Mannheim or the surrounding area.
