English-speaking actors (m/d) for an artistic video "All That Fall"

Application phase closed
Job description

We are currently looking for native English-speaking male actors aged 20-60 years, based in Berlin.

Actors will work with Korean artist CHAN SOOK CHOI (https://chansookchoi.com/) for her new video work  "ALL THAT FALL"  which will be screened on September 14th at the Nam June Paik Art Center (https://njpart.ggcf.kr/)  in Korea!

PLEASE FIND ECASTING INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

DETAILS:
Chan Sook is a Korean artist whose work explores narratives of physical and spiritual migration. She combines the various fragments created by migration to establish new attachments to places as alternatives to seemingly fixed realities.
For her new video work, the artist has interviewed various protagonists with PTSD and war-related experiences. These protagonists will be portrayed by actors in the video work. Since these interviews were very emotional, all cast actors need to recreate scenes involving crying. We are looking for experienced actors who can credibly convey these emotions!

COMPENSATION: 500 Euros  including 1 rehearsal & 1 shoot day.

Project Overview:
"ALL THAT FALL" begins with a type of volcanic rock known as "Apache tears," a black glass-like stone. This stone is a type of obsidian found in the Superior region of Arizona. This area, which includes the sacred land of the Apache tribe known as Oak Flat, has recently become the site of a fierce struggle between the Apache tribe and an international copper mining corporation due to newly discovered copper deposits. This essay film examines the displaced and transformed bodies of Native Americans, residents, and veterans involved in this difficult struggle, depicting their bodies, alliances, and surfaces as slow-flowing liquids like glass.

ECASTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL ROLES:

  1. A short introduction video in English.

  2. Scene: A man enters his living room and sits on the couch. He appears thoughtful, and after a few moments, he starts to cry. Please provide both a wide shot and a close-up of the crying scene.
