Director (m/f/d) for a family play of the "Festspiele Wangen"

For the 2026 open-air season, the Festspiele Wangen e.V. is looking for a committed director for the family play.

About us
In the summer months, the historic Zunftwinkel in Wangen im Allgäu is transformed into an open-air stage full of life, magic and drama. Since it was founded in 2010, the Wangen Festival has developed into a permanent cultural highlight in the region thanks to great voluntary commitment.
Every year, two new productions are created under professional direction, an evening play and a family play that invite you to laugh, reflect and be amazed. The repertoire has included classics such as The Servant of Two Masters and Pippi Longstocking as well as modern works such as The First Name, No One Pays or Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

Your tasks

• Staging the family play 2026 (children aged 5 and over)

• Collaborating closely with the director of the evening play, especially in the joint selection and casting of the actors and rehearsal planning

• Coordination and cooperation with the artistic director and the production management

• Involvement in the selection of the play and in the composition of the artistic team (in consultation with the artistic director)

• Development of a child-friendly, lively production for a cross-generational audience

Your profile

• Experience in directing open-air and/or family or children's theater productions

• Sense for theater that appeals to children as well as adults
