This is a casting call for an extraordinary diploma film of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
We are shooting a music video that provides narrative space for a humorous and absurd parody of the DJ world. The story follows a young man, Jackson, who is drafted into a surreal "DJ boot camp" - a world where beats meet military drill. A music video was chosen as this is where we could make the most of the creative freedom of studying to combine a visually unseen, playful, absurd style with humor and strong aesthetics. The visual concept is characterized by absurd comedy, rhythm and the exaggerated seriousness of DJ culture.
It is voluntary, as it is a diploma project of film students from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg who want to realize their passion for film and art.
Contact: Yannic
Role sought: Recruits / Trainees (Extras)
The recruits are the protagonist Jackson's fellow trainees at the DJ Academy.
- Age: Young people in their early twenties
- Overall aesthetic: The cast should be bold, eccentric and slightly surreal, we are looking for a cast that is athletic, distinctive and unforgettable. Everyone is allowed to look a little over the top - but just right in our setting.
Requirements for the performance and role in the film:
The recruits are part of the tough, physical and musical daily training routine: they are accommodated in neatly lined up beds in the dormitories, in the canteen they shovel muesli into themselves and wash it down with energy drinks, like soldiers with rifles they assemble their equipment every day: headphones are plugged together, USB sticks are inserted, CDJs are switched on and the sound is tested.
They take part in dynamic, choreographed training sequences that are perfectly synchronized with the beat, jog with mixers under their arms, bend over the decks and practise blind transitions (blind mixing transitions).
