We are urgently looking for an actor for the role of "Grandfather Alexander" for a short film as a master's project at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences.
Synopsis:
When Sascha visits her grandparents for lunch, an innocent conversation about memories begins - and how much they can change over time. But when the two begin to tell their own love story, it quickly becomes clear that their versions could hardly be more different.
August 1968: Young Nina, newly divorced and disillusioned with love, meets young Alexander in a small bookshop. She secretly likes him and lets him accompany her through the day. Although unsettled by her mixed signals, but nevertheless sensing the connection that is building up, he comes along with her. They get on better and better, and although Nina doesn't want to admit it to herself yet, she enjoys their evening together in the city and they end up in her apartment under a blanket. The morning after, she curses herself for getting involved in something dubious when he proposes to her out of the blue.
In hindsight, the grandmother largely remembers the romantic moments and embellishes the narrative, while the grandfather seems more grounded in reality with his matter-of-fact version. An affectionate look back turns into a heated debate: they get into an argument about the details of the story until they accuse each other of only having married for material reasons anyway. In the end, they have to admit that living together is not always about who is actually right.
Contact: Nadja
A calm, matter-of-fact and life-experienced character. Alexander is the antithesis of his dreamy wife: realistic, calm and patient. He gets to the heart of things in a few words and approaches life with sober pragmatism. Facts and figures are his language - with calm clarity and a dry sense of humor, he puts the chaos around him in order. We are looking for an actor with presence and a fine sense of subtle comedy and depth.
Language requirements: High German, at most slightly Bavarian
Optional, but would be advantageous: overnight accommodation in Salzburg
