Role / Requirements profile

Precisely because of its manageable size, our choir is an expressive musical element with a strong stage presence in the MiT repertoire.

A major focus of your work will be on further developing the choir as an enthusiastic chamber ensemble while fostering the individual strengths of each choir member.

You will be responsible for the independent preparation, musical rehearsal, and musical direction of the assigned productions.

The choir director creates the choir schedules in collaboration with the KBB.

You will also be expected to accompany staged and other musical rehearsals, as well as to study parts and serve as a music assistant in the orchestra.

Furthermore, the position involves communicating with, as well as developing and leading, amateur choirs (including children’s choirs) affiliated with the theater or participating in individual MiT theater projects.

We work across disciplines and regularly incorporate musical elements into our drama and youth theater productions—as part of your role as drama music director, you will be responsible for the musical rehearsal and independent direction of these productions.

The MiT welcomes initiative and encourages the realization of personal artistic projects within the theater.

We are seeking, to start as soon as possible (no later than February 1, 2026), a dedicated and dynamic individual with outstanding piano skills, who is familiar with the stylistic diversity of the theater repertoire and holds a degree in conducting or choral conducting. Additional experience in choral conducting, piano accompaniment, and orchestral conducting is desirable.
A willingness to communicate, organizational and administrative skills, and a good command of German are required.
