This announcement is intended exclusively for actresses who identify as people of color or who have an immigrant background.

Droughts, floods, storms. Uninhabitable areas and struggles over resources are spreading. The window of opportunity left for action is growing ever smaller. The Climate Monologues tell the stories of people from all over the world fighting against climate change. They offer insight into how people in different regions of the world are experiencing the concrete consequences of climate change in their own lives.

The play tells the story of a family’s survival in Bangladesh after Cyclone Aila, of a pastoralist’s struggle against hunger caused by the drought in northern Kenya, of a climate activist from Pakistan whose own village at the foot of a glacier was flooded, and of a nurse who narrowly escaped the deadliest wildfire in California’s history.

“The climate catastrophe is given a face.

The images take shape in the mind and have a greater impact than any photograph. The concept works.
Bit by bit, you are drawn into this powerful and, despite everything, poetic narrative. You can’t look away. The images lodge themselves in your mind and call for action.”

The Asylum Monologues, Asylum Dialogues, NSU Monologues, Mediterranean Monologues, and Climate Monologues have been performed approximately 1,300 times in 300 cities to date, including at the Deutsches SchauSpielHaus in Hamburg, the National Theater in Weimar, the State Theater in Kassel, Schauspiel Dortmund, Schauspiel Köln, the Polittbüro in Hamburg, the HAU in Berlin, the Thalia in Hamburg, the State Theater in Braunschweig, the Gorki in Berlin, as well as more than 250 times at the Heimathafen Neukölln.

The fee for participating artists varies greatly from performance to performance, depending on the host and the funding currently available. For Quedlinburg, it is 230 EUR net.
