Opera Leipzig, owned by the City of Leipzig, is looking for a full-time (39 hours or 44 hours), open-minded, communicative and technically skilled person to join the Technical Directorate of Oper Leipzig at the beginning of the 2026/2027 season (01.08.2026) as

Assistant to the Technical Director (f/m/d).

The Opera Leipzig follows in the tradition of over 330 years of music theater in Leipzig: In 1693, the first opera house on Brühl was opened as the third civic music theater in Europe after Venice and Hamburg. Since 1840, the world-renowned Gewandhaus Orchestra has played for all opera and ballet performances in Leipzig. In addition to the current opera house on Augustusplatz, built in 1960, the Musikalische Komödie in the Lindenau district is part of Oper Leipzig, a special venue for operettas and musicals with its own ensembles. With over 720 employees, the city's largest in-house cultural enterprise comprises a total of five supporting pillars: Opera, Musical Comedy, Leipzig Ballet, the Junge Oper and Vermittlung 360° division and the Theaterwerkstätten workshops, which produce for all of the city's theatres.

The position reports directly to the Technical Director. You will support the Technical Director in organizational, administrative and technical matters relating to production operations. You will work closely with artistic teams, stage trades, workshops and external service providers and authorities.

Your tasks will include, among other things:

  • Managing the Technical Director's office and independently supporting the Technical Director in the planning and organization of work tasks in daily operations

  • First point of contact for the Technical Director for all questions relating to cooperation with the artistic departments and the management

  • Interface between the technical departments of the opera house and the Musikalische Komödie

  • Collaboration in the preparation, Preparation, implementation and follow-up of in-house productions and guest performances

  • Collaboration in the planning, implementation, management and follow-up of technical and construction projects

  • Coordination of organizational processes in the technical operations office

  • Creation of documentation, Templates and presentations

  • Recording and managing budgets

  • Researching, placing orders and checking invoices

Role / Requirements profile

You bring with you:

  • Successfully completed vocational training, preferably as an event manager or a successfully completed degree (Bachelor/Master of Engineering) in theater technology, event technology/management or a comparable theatre-specific qualification

  • Ideally professional experience in a theater company in a comparable position

  • Organizational strength, structured work and a sense of responsibility

  • Team and communication skills as well as a confident, friendly demeanor

  • A high degree of empathy in an artistic environment

  • Discretion, Loyalty and reliability

  • very good IT skills (especially MS Office, SAP and CAD)

  • willingness to take annual leave mainly during theater holidays
