Job description
With SchoolRallye, students become part of an interactive mission in which they experience history firsthand at the original sites and deepen their knowledge in a fun, engaging way.
For our new rally set in Amsterdam in the year 1644, we’re producing an atmospheric trailer as well as short intro and outro videos. For this, we are looking for an actor to play the lead character, Captain Hendrick Willemsz van der Wal.
The shoot includes scenes with English dialogue and close-ups that highlight the character’s personality. This is not a traditional film production, but rather a marketing production for our website, social media, and online advertising.

Role / Requirements profile
Captain Hendrick Willemsz van der Wal is an experienced VOC captain in Amsterdam in the year 1644.
He is looking for new recruits for his crew and puts the players to the test. Only those who demonstrate discipline, courage, intelligence, and a spirit of discovery will be allowed to board the “De Morgenster.”
Van der Wal himself comes from humble beginnings. Through ambition, discipline, and his career with the VOC, he has risen to become captain of a major merchant fleet. He promises adventure, good pay, and the chance to escape the misery of the city. At the same time, he makes it unmistakably clear that weakness and a lack of discipline will not be tolerated on his ship.
He is the story’s mission giver and initially comes across as an antagonist. Yet he is not evil, but rather strict, goal-oriented, and shaped by the challenges of the sea.
