As part of the 3rd semester of my film production studies, I am looking for an actor for the role of Joseph Moss for my final project.
The story in a modern setting is about a creative crisis and how to overcome it through self-reflection. With an art-house style and animation work, the aim is to create a hopeful film that speaks to the viewer and other artists in a personal way.
Plot
When a young and ambitious artist collects her portfolio works from her former art teacher, she learns of a competition on the theme of "The Importance of Creation". Determined, she decides to take part. But the more she feels the pressure to perform and the time pressure on her, the more blurred and unclear her dreams become, which she uses as her only source of inspiration.
Premise
The true creative process is an act of love.
Director and contact person: Anastasiia
Character
Joseph Moss is an art teacher who initially aspired to become an artist himself, but later found his purpose in teaching.
He is a very calm, serene and gentle man who creates out of love. He is passionate about the process of creating analog art and the richness of philosophical and spiritual themes that come with it. He sees art as a metaphor for life and finds parallels to the real world in creation.
To get to this point, he had to learn a lot and overcome countless obstacles in his early years as an artist. For example, he had also taken part in the same competition as the protagonist and even experienced a similar character change to her.
He is free from the burden of external validation and is therefore often insensitive to other people's opinions. This is also among his weaknesses, as he sometimes takes other people's views into consideration. He is also somewhat unstructured due to his free nature. He often wanders from one philosophical thought to the next, where a clearer structure and some focus would be helpful.
Because he has achieved the status of a teacher and does not allow his ego to define him, he always expresses criticism honestly and sincerely, but some students take this personally. He never raises his voice and always approaches things with love. He is also not afraid to show his sentimentality.
