Job description
We are an established company in the ed-tech (educational technology) sector and operate one of the leading online learning platforms. For a documentary-style TV commercial, we are looking for a child (or the child’s parents) for a UGC/self-shoot production.
Important to note upfront: The child’s face will not be shown at any time. Filming will take place exclusively from behind—as a silhouette, with the face obscured, or showing only hands and feet—similar to anonymous interviews in TV documentaries. It’s not about appearance, but about voice and presence.
Filming will be done independently using a smartphone (no film crew, no studio). We’ll provide a detailed briefing with all scenes, camera positions, and instructions—we’ll handle the editing and post-production.
We need two types of footage:
B-roll clips: short, calm individual shots (child sitting down on a chair, rubbing hands together, shuffling feet, etc.), each 3–5 seconds long, with sound.
Voice-over: a short, emotionally delivered script, recorded separately and clearly.
The text is intentionally kept short—the key is for the child to convey the emotion (frustration, despair, then relief) in a believable and calm manner.
Role / Requirements profile
Who we're looking for:
A school-age child (or a parent willing to participate) who enjoys reading aloud and speaking
Ability to convey emotion with minimal text – Making frustration and relief audible
Clear, easily understandable pronunciation
No on-camera appearance required → also ideal for children/parents who wish to remain anonymous
Technical requirements:
A smartphone capable of recording in 4K / 60fps (modern smartphones can do this easily)
Smooth camera movement – A gimbal is helpful (for smooth panning shots), but not required
A quiet room for the voice-over recording (minimal reverberation, minimal background noise)
Willingness to follow a provided briefing precisely (camera position, buffer, naming of clips)
Gender
Male / Female / Non-binary
Age
11 – 13 years
