ABOUT US
The Theater Sonni Maier is a dedicated touring theater based in Witten / Ruhr area. Already over 1,500 performances. Awarded the German Fair Trade Award.

"FAIRSEIN - WIE GEHT DAS?"
A turbulent solo show about global justice - with theater scenes, songs, creative mini-lectures and interactive audience games.
Buckle up, hold on tight to the chair and off you go on a colorful worldwide journey: To the garbage dump in Agbogbloshi / Ghana, where the broken computers and games consoles from German children's rooms end up... to a sweatshop in Dhaka / Bangladesh, where twelve-year-old Ridoy sews your T-shirt... to the cocoa plantation in Buake / Ivory Coast, where child slaves pick the Snickers bars... and back to your world, where you can make a difference!
Actors and audience work together to create a visionary alternative concept: What could a fair world look like? And what can we do in practical terms to make this vision a reality?

YOUR TASKS
You will drive to the performance venue in the theater's own van together with a technician and set up the theater's own scenery and technology (a lot of dragging!). You are responsible for the success of the performance and are a service-oriented, cheerful and competent contact person for our organizers on site.
You guide the young audience through a show in which you play all the roles yourself. Afterwards, there will be an educational audience discussion in which you will answer questions and expand on the content of the play.
The play has already been produced and recorded. You will work on the part using video material and a few rehearsals. You share the engagement with 1-2 other actors. You divide the performances freely and independently among yourselves. The theater guarantees 40 performances per year; if you want more, you have permission to land as many additional performances as you like in exchange for commission.

We offer you:

  • A stable, multi-year engagement that guarantees at least 40 performances per year, but also leaves you room for other projects/performances with other freelance companies thanks to double casting.

  • In case of mutual interest, the option of more roles / plays in the future.

  • In case of suitability and interest, the option of realizing your own theater projects under our roof.

TIME FRAMEWORK:

  • March / April 2026: Rehearsals in NRW

  • April 12 - May 6, 2026: Premiere tour

  • From June 2026: Tours with at least 40 performances per year, more by arrangement

  • Important: Please only apply if you can play at least 80% of the performance dates of the premiere tour

GAGE:

  • Per performance: 250 euros basic fee plus 50 euros if you take over your tour organization yourself (e.g. book hotel, calculate travel times). Plus a further 50 euros commission if you have acquired the performance yourself.

  • Overnight stays on tour will be provided (not for the rehearsal phase)
