Job description
For an online advertising campaign by IID (Kapitalanlage Immobilien), we are looking for two actors or actresses for a series of seven humorous dialogue spots. The format is modeled after the legendary Apple campaign “Get a Mac”: Two characters stand side by side in front of a white studio background, with a static camera—the entire effect comes from dialogue, timing, and facial expressions.
Both characters are financial advisors. The humor is dry, warm-hearted, and never demeaning—we’re not looking for comedians who “crack jokes,” but rather actors and actresses with precise timing and a knack for subtle comedy. If the campaign is successful, a sequel with additional seasons is planned; corresponding options will be contractually agreed upon.
Role / Requirements profile
Role 1: “The Advisor”
• Type: Classic financial advisor—suit, tie, always carrying one too many stacks of papers. Hardworking, likable, means well, but struggles alone against the complexity of his daily life.
• Age range: approx. 35–55 years
• Requirements: The more demanding of the two roles. We’re looking for someone who can portray failure in an endearing way—the character loses every scene, but never her dignity. The audience laughs with him, never at him.
• References for the tone: John Hodgman as “PC” in the Apple campaign; Bastian Pastewka in his quiet, tragicomic moments.
• Important: No slapstick, no facial grimaces—the humor arises from genuine overwhelm and brave optimism.
Role 2: “The Partner”
• Type: Also a financial advisor—modern appearance, blazer without a tie, calm and composed. He isn’t smarter or better than his colleague; he just has a system backing him up.
• Age range: approx. 30–50 years
• Requirements: Maximum understatement with maximum presence. The character never triumphs, never lectures, and never promotes anything—he simply recounts, in a dry manner, how things are going for him. Punchlines are delivered casually, not acted out.
• Reference for tone: Justin Long as “Mac”—relaxed, friendly, on equal footing with the colleague he visibly likes.
Both roles are open to all genders. What matters most is not gender, but timing, type, and the chemistry between the two actors.
