Actor (m/f) for the sophisticated sci-fi chamber drama “Datensatz 27”

We are looking for our lead actor for the student graduation project “Datensatz 27”—an atmospheric sci-fi chamber drama in the found-footage style (with an aesthetic reminiscent of the ’90s and ’00s).

• Role: DR. GABRIEL REHN (male, on-screen age approx. 28–40).

• Character type: An analytical, initially aloof data analyst who, while investigating an urban interference signal, becomes consumed by a manic, existential obsession.

• Requirements: Strong delivery of dialogue (handling scientific vocabulary that turns into sheer panic) and nuanced presence (subtle facial expressions) in front of a static camera.

DR. GABRIEL REHN (male, on-screen age approx. 28–40)

The Character: Gabriel is a highly intelligent, rational data analyst. At the beginning of the film, he is the cool, detached scientist working for a large corporation—completely in control and pragmatic. Over the course of two days (as told through the 6 logs), however, his scientific worldview completely collapses. He spirals into a manic, existential obsession when he realizes that free will is a mathematical illusion. He is psychologically brought into complete alignment by the very Matrix he is investigating.

Your acting challenge (The Degeneration): Since the film is staged as a static chamber drama, the entire dynamic rests on your acting presence. What’s required is an extremely nuanced, powerful “show, don’t tell” performance. The emotional downward spiral and the paranoid loss of control must be conveyed primarily through your subtle facial expressions, your posture, and a voice that grows increasingly fragile and panicked.

• The requirements in detail:

  • Excellent command of the material: You must be able to deliver complex, mathematical and scientific terminology (Shannon entropy, stochastic processes, autocorrelation) with absolute fluency, naturalness, and credibility—like a professional for whom this is an everyday routine.

  • Strong stage presence: The ability to convey a character’s psychological decline through subtle nuances while acting almost exclusively in front of a static camera.
