TV castings are a selection process for discovering talent. There is a difference between a casting for TV and castings that are broadcast on TV for different areas. Well-known TV casting shows include "Germany's Next Topmodel", "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" and "Das Supertalent".
In addition to the applicants who showcase their talents, a casting also includes a presenter and a jury who assess the skills of the participants.
However, before a talent show is broadcast on television, a number of steps have to be taken. The search for talent usually starts in several large cities. Interested parties can apply and are then invited to the pre-selection. The best from these pre-selections then ultimately become the future participants of the TV casting show.
In principle, anyone whose talent matches the show and who meets the application requirements can take part. Conditions for participation may include: being 18 years of age, residing in Germany or providing proof of physical and mental health.
The application requirements vary depending on the talent show. Anyone applying for a dance show must meet different criteria than an applicant taking part in TV castings for the model business or the music industry. There is a guideline for all castings, which is made available for pre-selection before the application process begins. The winners of the initial shows ultimately receive a personal invitation and are then allowed to take part in the actual casting, which is broadcast on TV.
TV castings can be for various formats, including reality shows, game shows, drama series, talk shows and more. The type of casting depends on the requirements of the specific TV production.
