Industry jargon not your thing? Our glossary will enlighten you!
"Image film" is a collective term for all video communication tools used for internal or external corporate communication and refers to short films that present a product or service.
Image films that are tailored to a specific target audience can be just as appealing as their counterparts from the entertainment industry. Corporate video production can involve a brilliant level of creativity through the use of storytelling, a compelling message and professional production.
Image films can be used in a variety of ways. There are plenty of places that present their advertising messages in this form - be it in waiting areas at train stations or airports, in shopping centers or doctors' surgeries, at trade fairs and sales events, in hotel lobbies or hotel rooms or on the websites of the companies themselves. These places are ideal for advertising messages, as most consumers usually have time to (unconsciously) engage with them there.
Image films can be produced with or without protagonists, i.e. actors or extras. Films that present a product or service, a building, a landscape or something else are usually simply accompanied by suitable music. On the other hand, there are image films for which protagonists are booked who play real roles, as in a short film. However, these image films can also be accompanied by music or speech.
A frequently used means is also the accompaniment of an off-screen voice, which many companies swear by for image films. This usually involves booking well-known voice-over artists who, unlike a presenter, can only be heard rather than seen. These texts are recorded in a recording studio and later incorporated into the film at the appropriate points.
In contrast to an advertising film, which is usually only current for a few days or weeks, an image film has a more timeless character and is intended to run over a longer period of time. This is achieved with special stylistic means, such as camera work or the use of certain colors or moods.
In addition to any actors, various specialists are required for the production of an image film. If you want to produce an elaborate film, it is best to book a professionally experienced filming team, including directors, lighting technicians and editors, for example. Equally important is a good cameraman and a studio that will edit the footage and mix the sound afterwards.
