Actor (m/d) with excellent English skills for a historical SchoolRallye trailer

With SchoolRallye, students become part of an interactive mission in which they experience history at the original locations and deepen their knowledge through playful learning.

For our new rally set in late 19th-century London, we are producing an atmospheric trailer as well as short intro and outro videos. At the centre of the story is the young Detective Constable Arthur Vane, who is sent from Scotland Yard to London’s East End to review a murder case that the local police believe has already been solved.

When the suspect’s daughter claims that her father is innocent, Arthur begins to question the evidence. Together with the players, he must find out whether the case file really tells the truth, or whether prejudice, manipulation and corruption could send an innocent man to prison.

For this production, we are looking for an actor to play the lead character Arthur Vane.

The shoot includes English-speaking scenes and character-focused close-ups. This is not a traditional film production, but a marketing production for our website, social media and online advertising.

Arthur Vane is a young Detective Constable with the Metropolitan Police who is sent from Scotland Yard to London’s East End.

For him, the case is an opportunity to prove himself as a capable investigator. Arthur firmly believes in law, order and the power of solid evidence. He works conscientiously, follows the rules and trusts that a proper procedure will also lead to a just outcome.

But this is precisely where his naivety lies.

When he is confronted with a stolen police file and the claim that the suspect already in custody is innocent, his confidence in the investigation begins to crumble. Over the course of the story, Arthur has to realise that evidence can be manipulated and that a system is not automatically just simply because all the paperwork has been completed correctly.

Arthur is intelligent, sharp-minded and has a strong moral compass. At the same time, he is still inexperienced and somewhat naive when it comes to the unwritten rules of the East End. He should come across as highly likeable and trustworthy, with just a slight touch of awkward formality.

In terms of character, we are looking for a kind of younger, less experienced version of Sherlock Holmes, less eccentric and considerably more approachable.

We are looking for:

• fluent, excellent English

• preferably British English or a native British English speaker

• an authentic British accent is strongly preferred

• a London or Southern English accent is a plus

• no artificial or exaggerated accent

• clear, intelligent and controlled delivery

• a believable combination of authority, uncertainty and curiosity
